Lillian unveiled the reality of many sinister men whose inhuman nature is hard to determine until some one a victim of such devilish act picks all the courage and has gut to spill it all. The book depicts the African scenario of extended family relationship that lingers over families and remains a killer disease in African society.
Lillian, a girl of 8 feared for her death when the monster threatened to kill her if she said it out.
Again it remains a challenge. If Lillian mentioned it out at that age, who knows she would have been called a liar. Even though the truth came out, there was 99% that the whole matter would have been played cool, a common thing in African society.
There are several cases of defilement, let alone Lillian's painful experience, that have been brought to light, but settled amicably particularly when relatives are culprits.
The book cautioned readers to check out the invisible acts in their families that are killing children, especially the female.
I appreciate this book as a real eye opener to all; and need to take precaution.
You may have read a lot of books, even heard this type of story before, but not told or experienced this way. It is hard to believe that this is L. B. Kelle's first book. She is an admirable storyteller. Her writing style and delivery are flawless. I am so glad she was able to share her story and grace us with her gift.
The story she shares is a true tale about facing adversity, overcoming and growing from it. She shares her personal and private history with such openness and honesty.
For 30 years she has lived with this terrible secret - a secret that a child; any child, should not have or bare. She learns to live with it, and in her twenties the secret torments and affects her livelihood. She struggles with alcoholism, deviant behavior and toxic relationships. Finally, in her thirties, she faces the darkness, lets in the light and the healing begins.
The story moved me and enlightened me, at times I cried, I got angry, and at times I smiled and even laughed.
The book is filled with nuggets of insight, wisdom and tidbits of humor. The journey Kelle takes you on is captivating, invigorating and enriching.

All in all the book was an interesting read and I was left wanting to read the second half of the story. There is quiet a bit of religion in it so if Christianity and God is not your thing, this might not be for you.
She did manage to balance the preachy preachy angle with her own life experiences.
